Ollie v2

An all-in-one USB to isolated UART x2, CAN, RS485 and RS232 converter.

$62 USD. Shipping $8 US, $18 worldwide at Crowd Supply. DB9 v2 connector $10 extra.

Stocked by Mouser. Crowd Supply orders placed now ship in late November 2026.

  • Two isolated UARTs up to 6 Mbps, with 1.8 V, 3.3 V, 5 V or target-set levels on a slide switch
  • Isolated CAN 2.0A/B up to 1 Mbit/s, SocketCAN and BUSMASTER compatible, with a termination switch
  • Isolated RS485 up to 500 kbps with bias and termination switches, and isolated RS232 at 235 kbps
  • ESD protection on every interface, so a fault on the target side cannot reach the computer
  • RGB activity LED, USB-C connector and a plastic enclosure
  • Optional DB9 v2 pluggable connector for CAN, RS232 or RS485, plus an OBD-II to DB9 cable
  • Windows drivers and a Linux script that name each COM port by its function

Ollie v2 combines the interface modules that usually clutter a bench into one isolated box: two UARTs, CAN, RS485 and RS232, each galvanically isolated from the computer, so a mistake on a high-voltage target does not take your laptop with it. Slide switches select UART voltage levels, CAN termination and RS485 bias, and the screw terminals take bare wires. The optional DB9 v2 connector plugs in for CAN, RS232 or RS485 cabling.

Compared with the original Ollie, v2 lets the UART level follow the target, adds an RGB activity LED, a USB-C connector and a plastic enclosure, ships with Windows drivers and a Linux script that label each COM port by function, and moves to parts chosen for ongoing production. Support for USB Full Speed downstream targets was dropped, since modern debuggers use USB High Speed.
